Microsoft Office is a popular Office suite software for Microsoft Windows user. So here is a tutorial that helps you to run Microsoft office 2007 on Linux with this PlayOnLinux application.
Install Play On Linux
The first bthing you have to do is install Play On Linux on your system. You can download Play on Linux easily from the Ubuntu Software Center (if you are a Ubuntu user) or get the installation file from thedownload page.
After the installation is completed run PlayOnlinux (Applications -> Games ->Play on Linux). Now click the‘Install’ button and Select ‘Office’ from the applications category list.
Now keep your Microsoft Office 2007 installation CD ready with the Product Key and move to next step.
Insert the CD
Now Insert the Office 2007 CD and wait for the CD to autoplay. When the autoplay is completed open the CD folder and figure out the mount point of the CD. To find the mount Point of the CD press “Ctrl + L” in the CD file browser and copy the mount point for the next step.
The Installation Process
After you Insert the CD, Go back to the PlayOnLinux window Select “Microsoft Office 2007″ from the Office list and Click the “Apply” button the installation has started now. Now Click “Forward” button in the Installation wizard box.
Now on the next step you will have to select place where your CD-ROM has been mounted. Double-click“Other” from the list and paste same mount location you have copied from the above step and continue to next step.
Now the installation will go smoothly. The program will install everything Microsoft Office needs to run, including Internet Explorer and the Microsoft fonts.
In few more steps you will be asked the product key, enter the product key and at the end of installation you will be asked whether you want the menu or desktop shortcuts for the Office elements. Now wait for the installation get completed.
For some reason the installation might not get completed successfully. If so happens then don’t get panic instead try this process for some more times, you will surely get succeeded.
The Completion
Now the Microsoft Office 2007 has been successfully installed on your Linux computer. You can access it easily from the desktop or from the menu if you have selected the shortcuts for the office components.
